The G7 Speakers Conference this year has been held at Astley Hall, Chorley, home town of the UK House of Commons Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle.
Events like this are often held in or around London but Lindsay Hoyle and Nancy Pelosi, US House Speaker, preferred a location in Sir Lindsay Hoyle's own backyard.
So it is welcome to Chorley for the G7 Speakers and to firmly put Chorley on the world map.
Astley Hall has recently been refurbished and hosted the conference whose main theme was open democracy and keeping parliaments safe.
Attendees were treated to a fly past by the famous Red Arrows at precisely 1pm on Saturday afternoon.
Lancashire food was on the menu prepared by Paul Heatcote which included butter pies, hotpot and of course Chorley cakes. The main meal included Morcambe Bay shrimps and sirloin of beef and his famed bread and butter pudding.
